Beautiful opaque Emerald Earrings with gold!
WHAT ARE THEY?
Simple dangle earrings with precious emeralds are easy to wear, day and night! Our Precious Gem earrings in ruby, emerald, sapphires, and chalcedony, are very pretty, a reasonable price, and are real precious gemstones you can wear every day. They make a nice gift for your wife, girlfriend, friend, sister, daughter!
The stones are opaque, natural emeralds, with earth's beauty and imperfections, so you'll know they're real! A rich emerald green, each stone is hand-faceted, coin-shaped and set in set in Sterling Silver rhodium-finished bezels (NO tarnishing!). A "Bezel Setting" is a metal rim that encircles the sides of a stone and holds it securely.
SIZE & SPECS
The earrings dangle approx. 1-1/4" (31.75mm) long, with Sterling Silver ear wires. The emeralds are hand selected by us for their unique beauty, are approx. 5/16"-3/8" (8-10mm), and bezel-set by hand in 18k Gold Vermeil (gold over Sterling Silver).
WHY EMERALDS?
The first known emerald mines were in Egypt, dating from at least 330 BC into the 1700s. Cleopatra was known to have a passion for emerald, and used it in her royal adornments. Emeralds from what is now Colombia were part of the plunder when sixteenth-century Spanish explorers invaded the New World. Wearing an emerald was believed to reveal the truth or falseness of a lover’s oath as well as make one an eloquent speaker. Legend also states that emerald was one of the four precious stones given by God to King Solomon. Today, most of the world's emeralds are mined in Colombia, Brazil and Zambia.
